About
Bugsy Malone is the soundtrack for the 1976 musical film of the same name, released on Polydor in 1976. All songs were composed by Paul William, utilizing musical styles that were popular during the "Roaring Twenties" setting of the film, such as blue, jazz, ragtime, and swing. Williams also performs three songs on the soundtrack; despite the fact that the rest of the songs are performed by different singer, Williams is credited with performing these in lieu of proper credits on the album cover. Among other accolade, the soundtrack earned Williams his second nomination for Best Original Score at the 49th Academy Award. Another nominee for this same award was Roger Kellaway's score for A Star Is Born, another film to which Williams contributed songs; in fact, one of said song, "Evergreen", co-written with Barbra Streisand, did win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. .
