About
This all-instrumental 1959 session is one of Chet Baker's most beautifully minimalist endeavors. Most of these songs find the storied trumpeter playing within a single-octave range, his always lyrical style hushed to a melodious whisper on the romantic "It Never Entered My Mind" and a stirring take on Kurt Weill's "September Song." Chet's quietude is balanced against more assertive solos from flautist Herbie Mann, pianist Bill Evans and saxophonist Pepper Adams, whose baritone solo on "Alone Together" will blow your hair back every time.
