About

Originally released to benefit Amnesty International just as Bruce was joining the multi-artist Human Rights Now! tour, this four-song EP features performances from his 1988 Tunnel of Love tour with The E Street Band. The centerpiece is a cover of Bob Dylan’s folk classic “Chimes of Freedom”; it’s transformed into an arena-rock anthem, with Max Weinberg’s pounding drums sounding like cannons. The acoustic version of “Born to Run” proves how Bruce could shrink the stadiums to handle an unusual level of intimacy. “Tougher Than the Rest” was a highlight from Tunnel of Love, and it’s played here with conviction and emotional honesty. “Be True” was a b-side from the era of The River and long a fan favorite. These live performances, once again, prove just how well his songs breathe in concert and why he’s considered one of the greatest performers to ever take the stage.
