Chinese Butterfly is a Jazz album by The Chick Corea + Steve Gadd Band, originally released in 2017. On Gatefold: 7 pressings tracked.
About
Veteran drummer Steve Gadd worked with Chick Corea in notable lineups of the '70s and early '80s, and the two have reunited from time to time. But this fullfledged collaboration yields their most sustained magic yet. The opener, "Chick's Chums," by John McLaughlin, stays grounded in a Gadd-like soul-funk spirit. The Corea pieces that follow grow ever broader in scope, from the acoustic tones of "Serenity" and "A Spanish Song" to the electric-jazz epics "Chinese Butterfly," "Gadd-Zooks," and the 1972-vintage "Return to Forever."
