About
Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones is the fourth studio album of eclectic indie group The Neighbourhood to have been released under contract with Columbia Record, already notorious for their frequent sound experiment, introduce a new persona to their discography: the silver alien Chip Chrome (impersonated by lead singer Jesse Rutherford) and his shadowy band, The Mono-Tone. Heavily inspired by the story and the style of David Bowie’s alter ego Ziggy Stardust (used through 1972 and 1973) and his band “The Spiders from Mar,” Chip Chrome & the Mono-Tones is a concept album built on Rutherford’s own struggles with binge-using of social media and the band’s identity. .
