About
To understand techno producer Juan Atkins' influence on electronic music, look no further than this 1993 anthology of the Detroit legend’s early work. "No UFO's," from 1985, is a dystopian blast of sci-fi synths and disorienting effects; "The Chase" pays tribute to Giorgio Moroder with a liquid synth melody that still sounds futuristic today. "Night Drive (Time, Space, Transmat)" roughs up Kraftwerk's electro with a gritty, Motor City feel, while "Ocean to Ocean" shows off his sentimental side. As the title of the throbbing "Techno Music" suggests, it all begins here.
