The album Closeness II is a continuation of the album Closeness (released 2020 at Ropeadope). Closeness II is about interplay and to make the music breathe. It is an album about relationships between people and place. The music is an natural extension of life it self, in a comforting, calming and etheral way. The album was recorded in Wang's pink house and it includes 7 original songs written by Ellen Andrea Wang and two songs inspired by traditional folk songs from Søndre Land, the village where Wang grew up. The album also has a cover song "I Like London in the rain" by Blossom Dearie. If Ellen Andrea Wang is new to you, her music has been likened to Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden, Blossom Dearie, Tord Gustavsens trio, and Norah Jones Ellen write this about the album: "The album is about relationships to places and people that I love. Closene, in collaboration with Rob and Jon, has always been about the intimate things in life, both the good and the difficult, and finding a resting heart rate in both the music and in everyday life. Closeness zooms in even more than the previous album and is about seeing what's right in front of your own nose. It was therefore natural to record the entire album at home in my house in familiar surroundings with relaxed shoulder, creaking old floor, a little noise from the refrigerator, and with an attitude of 'it's not so bad, it's just fun'. I stood in the kitchen and played while Rob and Jon were in the living room, Marcus set up the control room in Ellinor's children's room among Fantus and Pippi. A big Hallelujah must be shouted for a masterpiece of a beautiful cover painted by visual artist Sverre Bjertnæs! The painting is titled 'a warmer wind' and the cover is tastefully framed by graphic designer Peder Bernhardt. As a big admirer of Bjertnæs' art, it is extra special for me that his brushstrokes meet the musical Closeness universe. Because there is almost something religious about holding your own finished vinyl/CD in your hand! There is a range of emotions that stretches from jumping happiness to total exhaustion considering all the hours that have been put in from start to finish. A huge thank you goes to everyone who has contributed with their completely wild competence on this album! Rob and Jon first and foremost, dear band! My dear husband Marcus Forsgren who fixed all the equipment, recorded the music and mixed the album so beautifully. George Tandero who has mastered. Sverre Bjertnæs for painting and cover photo. .
