Cockahoop is a Rock album by Cerys Matthews, originally released in 2003. On Gatefold: 7 pressings tracked.
About
A major departure for Cerys Matthews and, in some way, a since un-repeated one. Following the split with Catatonia, Matthews moved to Tennessee and began to record the album with Bucky Baxter producing. Inspired by Blue gra, Welsh Hymn, French folk and the Blue. The album declared Cerys Matthews' encyclopaedic knowledge of musical history and an ability to experiment freely with genres and language. The tone of the album was emphatically different from her previous work with catatonia. Using her typically husky vocals in an untypical way to signify fragility and emphasise the haunting quality of many of the albums song. .
