About
Neon Indian’s second album builds on the woozy pleasures of his debut, Psychic Chasms, and its breakout song, “Deadbeat Summer”—funneling tape-warped electro-funk into even fuller, more enveloping forms. If “Fallout” marks a high-fidelity update of his ’80s-inspired synth pop, “The Blindside Kiss” leapfrogs his previous influences to plunge directly into the buzzing guitars and sandpaper-rubbed vocals of classic shoegaze. His pop instincts rule “Polish Girl,” a heart-melting synthesizer showcase for visceral textures and wistful melodies.
