"Escape from Television" is a compilation album by Czech-American musician Jan Hammer, released in 1987 by MCA Records. The album features a selection of instrumental tracks composed and performed by Hammer for the American television series Miami Vice, including the show's main theme. It also includes "Before the Storm," a track that was not used in the series. Several tracks from the album were released as singles. "Miami Vice Theme" had previously been released in 1985 and became a worldwide hit, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. Other singles included "Crockett's Theme," which also achieved international success in 1987, "Tubbs and Valerie," which reached number 84 on the UK Singles Chart and number 34 in Germany, and "Forever Tonight," which reached number 62 in Germany and number 74 in the Netherlands. .
