New Order's third single, issued by Factory Benelux.
Here, the A-side was the B-side to Procession (Fac 53).
It was their first recording to feature a sequencer, later becoming a defining part of their sound. Last work to be produced by Martin Hannett.
While the back cover first lists Mesh and then Cries And Whispers, the 1981 and 1988 versions play Cries And Whispers as track B1 and Mesh as track B2 (as on the label). The 1986 versions play them as on the back cover (wrong order on the label).
There are several versions of this release existing:
The original 1981 (opens in a new tab) edition: back cover with logo and F.B.N. underneath, no cat# in top right corner, no cat# on the spine.
Labels are grey/white with blue lettering. Cat# FBNL 8 on side B only.
B1 plays Cries And Whispers, B2 plays Mesh.
Belgian pressing.
A 1986 reissue (opens in a new tab): back cover with logo and F.B.N. underneath, FBN 8 in top right corner, no cat# on the spine.
