About
After more than a decade of restlessly reinventing their sound, Primal Scream consolidate on their seventh album by revisiting the styles that have served them best. “Deep Hit of Morning Sun” compellingly fuses electronic futurism and ’60s psych-pop, and “Miss Lucifer” simultaneously brings disco bounce and garage-rock frisson. There’s even some enjoyably daft posturing on “Rise”, while production from Kevin Shields (“City”) and Andrew Weatherall (“Autobahn 66”) ensures an impulse to push things forward continues to poke through.
