Led by powerhouse vocalist Emma Boster and guitarist/video director Pedro Carillo, Portland, Oregon, metalcore squad Dying Wish delivers their most emotionally potent album yet. Crushing single “I’ll Know You’re Not Around” sees Boster seesawing from soaring cleans to a venomous screech as her bandmates split the difference between high-flying metalcore and thudding nu-metal. “Revenge in Carnage” is as bloodthirsty as the title implies: Boster screams for vengeance under a hypnotic chorus and lurching guitars. All told, <i>Flesh Stays Together</i> is a blitzkrieg of breakdowns, anguish, and aggression that balances bruising heaviness with commentary on the senseless chaos of the human experience.
