While Miranda Lambert's fourth album still bears the same raw, rebellious spirit that made her famous, she expands in multiple directions at once, both lyrically and musically. Naturally, Miranda remains the queen of kiss-offs both sassy ("Baggage Claim") and bittersweet ("Same Old You"). But from the processed vocals and odd sound effects on "Fine Tune" to the postmodern rockabilly feel of the subtly feminist smash "Mama's Broken Heart," <i>Four the Record</i> sounds unlike any other mainstream country album of its era.
