About
When album opener “She Put a Seed in My Ear” kicks off with its droning, Revolver-style guitar lick, woozy gait, and reverb-drenched everything, you just know you’re in for a psychedelic treat. And that track isn’t the only one. Freaks of Nurture is stacked with enchanting jangle pop soaked in electric ether. The fuzzily melancholic “California Took My Bobby Away” drifts like a feather on a Pacific breeze, while the ’60s-flavored “Wendy Go Round” flickers and tilts as though it were a carousel on the verge of teetering off its axis.
