About
On Get Lucky, Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler goes old-school, using folky, traditional sounds to tell working-class stories from both sides of the Atlantic. "Border Reiver" opens the album with Celtic flute and majestic strings, its lyrics connecting the struggles of people today with those of bandits from the Tudor era. Meanwhile, the gothic-country dirge of "Before Gas and Tv" memorializes a time when people listened to music while sitting by the fire, passing around a bottle and a guitar.
