Happier Now by Movements

Happier Now is an Alt/Indie album by Movements, originally released in 2026.

About

The Southern California post-hardcore band Movements’ fourth album revels in the tension between heavy rock and vocalist Patrick Miranda’s insecurities: “Is it worth it?” he wonders over distorted guitar arpeggios on the opening track, “Pulse,” which then mushrooms into an anthem that feels like an affirmative answer to his question. Movements’ brand of 2020s alt-rock balances peppy hookiness with musical and lyrical heaviness, with tracks like the pugilistic “Everything Is Fine” and the urgent “Happier Now” feeling like frantic scribbles in Miranda’s journal. But they can also slow down to arresting effect: “Fragile Hands” explodes into a cacophony of fuzzed-out riffs and pummeling drums, while “Back in My Ways” counters Miranda’s ennui with guitars that feel like lightning strikes.
