It was released on November 28, 2005 as the album's second and final single. It was released as the album's second single after "Pon de Replay" and peaked at number thirty-six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It had more success on a worldwide scale, reaching the top five in Poland and Slovakia, the top ten in Australia and New Zealand and number eleven on the UK Singles Chart; it also became her first number-one crossover hit in the Philippine. "If It's Lovin That You Want" was the second and last single released from Music of the Sun.The song has sold 500,000 paid digital downloads in the United State, according to Nielsen Soundscan. .
