The album has sold more than 30 million copies and was once the bestselling album in the Atlantic Records catalog until <i>Led Zeppelin IV</i> blew past it. Iron Butterfly's second album became such a huge hit due to the 17-minute side-long title track, which included a phased drum solo and extended jams on guitar and organ before turning back to its key riff. There was an under-three-minute single version, but clearly fans wanted the complete experience. Flipping the record to its first side, though, is an underrated experience. “Most Anything You Want” captures the essence of the band’s sound, while “Flowers and Beads” captures the essence of the era. “My Mirage” is a subdued, somewhat freaky acid rock composition based on Doug Ingle’s organ lines and an Arthur Lee–like melody, while “Are You Happy” uses Erik Brann’s heavily distorted guitar to make the ultimate acid rock anthem, again supported by Ingle’s animated organ fills. Brann takes the lead vocal for his and bassist Lee Dorman’s track “Termination.”
