About
Dolly's first release for RCA announced the arrival of a star in the making. Like her idols Patsy Cline and Rose Maddox, she was a stylish singer with a strong persona and deep Tennessee roots. And while she only penned four of the record's 12 songs, they happen to be the ones from the album that have endured, including the ahead-of-its-time title song and the tough lead track "You're Gonna Be Sorry." Dolly was feeling her way as a young artist about this time, but Just Because I'm a Woman set her on the path to legend.
