Lady Pank is the debut studio album by the Polish rock band Lady Pank, released in 1983. It came out during a period of strong growth for Polish rock and new wave music in the early 1980, when many bands were gaining popularity despite the limited and controlled media environment of the time in Poland. The album quickly became one of the most significant releases in Polish rock history and established Lady Pank as one of the leading bands of the decade. The music on the album combines rock and pop rock with strong new wave influence. Some tracks also include elements that resemble post-punk and even reggae-inspired rhythm. The overall sound is energetic and melodic, with prominent guitar work and catchy vocal lines that made many of the songs suitable for radio play. The album includes several well-known songs that became major hits in Poland, including “Mniej niż zero,” “Kryzysowa narzeczona,” “Zamki na piasku,” “Wciąż bardziej obcy,” and “Fabryka małp.” These tracks helped define the band’s early identity and remain some of their most recognizable song. The album was mainly written by guitarist Jan Borysewicz, with lyrics by Andrzej Mogielnicki. The band lineup at the time included Jan Borysewicz, Janusz Panasewicz on vocal, Edmund Stasiak on guitar, Paweł Mścisławski on ba, and Jarosław Szlagowski on drum. The recording sessions took place in Warsaw in 1982 and 1983, and the album was produced by Sławomir Wesołowski. Upon release, Lady Pank was a major commercial success in Poland. It received widespread radio play and quickly became a defining record of the Polish rock scene in the 1980.
