About
Recorded not long after Havens' legendary Woodstock performance, these live takes find the raspy singer confidently connecting white folk and rock ‘n’ roll to the black spiritual tradition. Havens adds urgency to Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" and George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun." But he can be subtle, too, as when following The Band's South-glorifying "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" with an abolitionist original, "No More, No More."
