Live From Electric Lady Studios by Thom Yorke

Live From Electric Lady Studios is an Electronic album by Thom Yorke, originally released in 2024.

About

A 2018 snapshot of Suspiria selections—and a revamped Radiohead cut. As his first foray into soundtrack work, Thom Yorke’s score for Luca Guadagnino’s artful 2018 remake of the ’70s horror cult classic Suspiria naturally encouraged a full-blown immersion into the avant-garde aesthetics that Radiohead had been dabbling in since the Kid A days. But embedded within Suspiria’s chilling chamber pieces, eerie choral incantations, and foreboding synthscapes were a handful of more traditional standalone songs, three of which form the foundation of this intimate live session recorded shortly after the film’s release. While some of the soundtrack’s ghostly textures remain, the stripped-down versions of “Open Again,” “Suspirium,” and “Unmade” liberate the songs from their original cinematic context and retrofit them into the solo-troubadour corner of Yorke’s canon, reminding us that the greatest special effect at his disposal remains his hauntingly beautiful voice. But the greatest revelation arrives in the form of a radically reimagined “Bloom,” where Yorke transforms the glitchy ’n’ twitchy King of Limbs opener into an ethereal piano hymn that feels like it could evaporate into thin air at any moment.
