This live album (recorded during a rain-soaked 1988 show) catches him at the peak of his powers; he muscles through rockers like the punchy “Cuts Like a Knife” and the windswept “Run to You” and adds grit to ballads like “Heaven.” The Canadian troubadour also honors his musical ancestors, turning Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” into a giddy rave-up and adding a punky edge to the feisty “I Fought the Law.”
