Slowing down James Brown's hyper-funk to a relaxed second-line amble, The Meters jam exquisitely to the soulful "This Is My Last Affair," the spacious "Funky Miracle," and the Mardi Gras tom-tom thump of "The Mob." Drummer Zigaboo Modeliste again earns an MVP award for his ceaselessly inventive patterns.
