About
Released in 1981, Magnets was the second album by The Vapors. The theme of this album circles mostly around psychotic people and can be considered quite dark. The lead-single and opening track on this album Jimmie Jones is about a cult leader for example and the title track (Magnets) is about the assassination of John F Kennedy. The album also got less airplay then its predecessor (New Clear Days) and wasn't received as well either. The Vapors were also on a side track for the label due to reorganisations and fusions with United Artists. Given the fact the band also started having more and more arguments, they broke up somwhere between 1981 and 1982. Until this day, The Vapors haven't released anything officially. A new album is set to be recorded in 2019 though and the band's lead singer Dave Fenton released an obscure single back in 1983, called Fresh Air. It remains mostly forgotten.
