With this career-summary greatest-hits collection, My Chemical Romance call it quits. Arguably the best hard rock band of the ‘00s, MCR wrote and performed with a breadth and determination not found in many young bands poised for superstardom. Events never transpired in their favor for a big breakthrough (they felt the decline of the major record labels), but their supersized cult audience enjoyed the spoils of a band given the means of production to create big-sounding music. This set leads with the previously unreleased, piano-based “Fake Your Death” and proceeds chronologically until the final three “Attic” demos conclude their story. The intensity of “Honey, This Mirror Isn’t Big Enough for the Two of Us” and “Vampires Will Never Hurt You” represent MCR's debut album in top form. Highlights from each of their studio albums show their continuous evolution as a band. The deluxe edition adds extensive video footage of the group beyond the standard rock videos.
