About
The major-label re-release of his debut album (with a slightly altered tracklist), <i>Mind of Mystikal</i> introduced the world to the NOLA tongue-twister’s wild style. His force-of-nature flow seemed to defy physics on “Y’all Ain’t Ready Yet,” his first local hit—steamrolling one minute, strutting with surprising grace the next. But the album’s heartbeat is his sister, who was murdered during its recording; her soulful vocals appear in the background of the frenzied “Not That N***a,” and the album’s outro is a touching spoken-word memorial.
