Over the years, Robbie Seay has built upon his role as bandleader at Houston’s Ecclesia Church to create worship music both broad in scope and intimate in feel. Seay’s vocals have the expressive range to capture these emotional extremes, reaching full-throated heights on the galvanizing “Love Invades” and striking fragile, tender notes on the moody “Long Way Home.” Listeners looking for spiritual uplift will find it in songs like “Awaken My Soul” (a thumping track led by a rallying-cry guitar riff), “Oh, Love That Will Not Let Me Go” (a contemporary revision of a 19th-century hymn) and “Your Love Is Strong” (a luminous cover of Jon Foreman’s paean to God’s majesty). “Lament” (featuring the ethereal voice of Owl City’s Breanne Duren) and the title number are poignant declarations of faith in the face of tragedy.
