The album cover is Joel-Peter Witkin's "Man Without Head" (1993) - a photograph of a real cadaver. The samples placed at the beginning of "Festering Vomitous Mass" and end of "Shroud of Encryption" are both taken from an interview with serial killer Joseph Kallinger. Recording information: Recorded in February 1999 at Gene Coleman's Cave (Dalla, Texas).
