About
Cohen's second best-of, released in 1997 while he was in retreat at the Mt. Baldy Zen Center, focuses on now-classic tracks from I'm Your Man, The Future, and Cohen Live. Many performers perk up their studio material onstage, but here Cohen opts for thoroughly adagio versions of "Suzanne" and "Hallelujah" (with sexier lyrics than the original). The unreleased 1995 track "Never Any Good" is a self-mocking kiss-off and a deep cut to cherish.
