The album was recorded at Godcity Studios, Salem, Massachusetts, produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge, and released on Black Market Activities (BMA) records, founded by Guy Kozowyk of The Red Chord. The album's name is inspired by novelist Cormac McCarthy.
