Chesney shows his hand from the album's first note, a reverberating snare hit that echoes back to the time of <i>Born in the U.S.A.</i> On "Young," the uptempo country rock jam that follows, Chesney’s broad, clean voice celebrates his own glory days with a tale of teenagers torn between wanting to grow up and trying to make time stand still. He has a knack for exactly that sort of contradiction: Later, fiddle-backed "Never Gonna Feel Like That Again" juxtaposes the possibilities of life against the finality of death.
