Released in 1985 on Metroplex Records, No UFO’s by Model 500 is one of the foundational releases of Detroit techno. The record combines stripped-down electro rhythms, synthesizer sequences and minimal vocals, marking a decisive shift from electro toward the emerging techno sound. Often cited as one of the first true techno records, No UFO’s helped define the aesthetic and philosophy of early Detroit techno, emphasizing futurism, machine-driven funk and a distinctly urban electronic identity.
