We’ve been intrigued by Bea Miller since we first heard her single “Young Blood,” an eerie but exhilarating pop anthem about refusing defeat. That song opens the American <i>X Factor</i> alum’s towering debut, <i>Not an Apology</i>, a collection of addictive, irrepressible, and equally emphatic pop-punk tunes. The hypnotic “Fire N Gold” starts as a doleful strummer before mutating into a titanic dance track that both shimmers and thumps. On the lovely “Force of Nature,” Miller’s impressive vocals combine beautifully with ribbons of acoustic guitar and glowing mandolin.
