About

With A Love Supreme under their belt, Coltrane’s classic quartet were primed to push ahead into more intense realms during their live shows. Although recorded on lo-fi equipment, these two sets still give an invaluable look at Trane’s move toward a marathon performance style in the mid-’60s. The lengthy title track starts in the middle of a bass solo and holds sway for another half hour, with Trane’s ferocious duo passages with drummer Elvin Jones something to experience.
