Pre-Flight is a Rock album by Room, originally released in 1970. On Gatefold: 15 pressings tracked.
About
The only album recorded by obscure British band Room, it presents highly original material & superb performances combining Folk, Blue, Prog & a strong Jazz influence into a unique amalgam. Room were an obscure British band that released a promising debut-album, & then disappeared into oblivion. They played a quite rough, unpolished & guitar-dominated style of early 70′s progressive rock mainly influenced by jazz & blue, but they also gave the music a symphonic side by using lots of strings & bra. They were fronted by a female-singer, her voice fitted well into their often melodramatic & complex song. The title-track & the instrumental “Cemetery Junction” are both solid progressive rock tracks in several section, & reveal a tight & technically very competent band. “Andromeda” shows the band’s most dramatic & grandiose side, while the more blues-inflected tracks “Where Did I Go Wrong” & “Big John Blues” are more modest & basic. Parts of “No Warmth in My Life” remind me of Affinity, & that’s not a bad thing at all. “Pre-Flight” is an album with lots of qualitie, & is well worth checking out. Personnel: Steve Edge: Lead and Rhythm Guitar Chris Williams: Lead Guitars Bob Jenkins: Drum, Congas & Percussion Jane Kevern: Vocals & Tambourine Roy Putt: Bass & Cover design. .
