About
"Reroute to Remain" (subtitled "Fourteen Songs of Conscious Insanity", and on reissue "Fourteen Songs of Conscious Madness") is the sixth studio album by Swedish heavy metal band In Flame, released in September 2002. The album marked a significant shift in the band's musical style and received mixed reactions from segments of its existing fanbase. Its more accessible sound also attracted a wider audience and increased the band's visibility within the American heavy metal scene, contributing to their participation in Ozzfest. It was the first In Flames album to feature officially released single, including "Trigger" and "Cloud Connected". The band continued to use Drop A# tuning on much of the album, with some tracks in C standard tuning, while "Transparent" was tuned down further to Drop G. Although initial fan reception was divided, critical response was generally favourable. In 2005, "Reroute to Remain" was ranked number 326 in Rock Hard magazine's book "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time". .
