About
A prolific reggae producer throughout the ‘70s, Lee “Scratch” Perry has been busy in the 21st century in front of the mic, too. Produced by Bill Laswell, the bass-forward 2011 album Rise Again sees Perry returning to his dubby roots after recent forays into dancehall. At turns both tough and squishy, “Orthodox” mingles Scratch’s coarse voice with the sweet pipes of Ejigayehu "Gigi" Shibabaw, while “E.T.” puts Perry on familiar terrain, floating along with bassy transmissions in outer space.
