Rose is the debut album by singer, songwriter, and producer ABRA, digitally released on June 16, 2015, through the independent collective Awful Records. Mostly recorded in the closet of her bedroom in Atlanta, the record blends alternative rnb, '80s-inspired synthpop, and the moody aesthetics of darkwave, earning ABRA the nickname “Darkwave Duchess.” The lead single, Roses, was described by Pitchfork as “a swamp of youthful obsession,” while the music video for Fruit surpassed 8 million views, helping ABRA break out of the underground scene.
