About
Seal flaunts his knowledge of soul on his fourth full-length, which combines early-’00s production with his homages to R&B. The politically charged “Get It Together” uses swooping strings and wah-wah guitars to energize Seal’s pleading lyrics; “Waiting for You” is a gospel/love song with an insistently optimistic chorus. Ballads like the slow-burning ‘60s throwback “Don’t Make Me Wait” and the plush yet wounded “Touch” give him a chance to showcase his seductive side while paying further tribute to his influences.
