Silver Shade is Peter Murphy’s eleventh solo album and first new studio release since 2014’s Lion. The album was produced by Youth (Martin Glover, known for his work with Killing Joke, The Verve, and Paul McCartney) and contains 12 original track. Contributors include Trent Reznor (vocals), Boy George (vocals), Justin Chancellor (bass), and Danny Carey (drums), among other. The album runs approximately 57 minutes and covers roughly three to seven minutes per track. Peter Murphy released singles ahead of the album including “Swoon”, “The Artroom Wonder” and “Let the Flowers Grow” (with Boy George), all of which are part of the final tracklist. Critical reception was positive. Mojo rated the album three out of five stars and noted Murphy’s enduring vitality at age 67. Spill Magazine gave the album a rating of 9 out of 10, calling it a welcome return. Under the Radar rated it 6 out of 10, describing it as dramatic but weighed down by its own scale.
