"Smooth Criminal" is the seventh single from Michael Jackson's seventh studio album, Bad. Released on November 14, 1988, as a single, it went on to reach number seven on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the sixth top-10 single from Bad. It was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and is now praised as one of Jackson's greatest songs. The music video/short film for "Smooth Criminal", which premiered globally on MTV on October 13, 1988, serves as the centerpiece of Jackson's 1988 film Moonwalker.
