About
The title of Rick Springfield’s 15th album might refer to apocalypse-related jitters, but the high-octane anthems on this 2012 release are utterly triumphant, stocked with arena-ready hooks and five-encore energy. Credit the Australian power-popper’s sly sense of humor and briskly efficient songwriting; “I Hate Myself” bucks its self-loathing title with muscular riffing and rich harmonies, while “Our Ship’s Sinking” uses romantic strife to fuel a peppy jam session.
