About
Between “Nothing Natural,” “Fantasy,” and “Ocean,” Lush’s 1992 album Spooky boasts some of the band’s most hypnotic rhythms, but for the most part it shows them moving beyond the mist of their early years. “For Love” and “Tiny Smiles” are two of the band’s simplest and most direct pop songs, while “Superblast!” and “Laura” outline a new fizzy style of punk. For those who feel that the best Lush songs are those that wash the listener in a shimmering rain, there is “Monochrome.” If you listen closely, it's guaranteed to supply the sensation of gentle levitation.
