About
"Staring at the Sun", the 5th track on U2's 1997 album Pop, features acoustic guitars and a distorted guitar riff from Edge, and a looping rhythm section from Mullen; that section was a backing track was played to the ARP 2600 running in free time, playing an odd drum-like sequence. Bono's lyrics are about apathy. The first single (Staring at the Sun) features two b-sides, "North and South of the River" written by Bono and Christy Moore and "Your Blue Room" by U2 and Brian Eno as Passengers. The Second single features NASOTR and several drum and bass remixes of the title track.
