About

This Native American rock ’n’ roll outfit from Florida had a flair for Southern rock riffs and a nose for hooks that might’ve otherwise been on Lynyrd Skynyrd or Outlaws albums (“Highway Song,” in particular). This 1979 album (their third) was their breakthrough, a platinum set of sturdy rock ’n’ rollers that played out like punk never happened. That stubbornness makes the album great. Besides stinging Southern takes of Free’s “Wishing Well” and Spirit’s “I Got a Line on You,” they tear it up on “Road Fever,” “Baby Blue,” and others. Fun fact: both Dolly Parton and Warrant covered “Train Train.”
