About
For Tuareg desert-blues luminaries Tinariwen, Tassili marks both a commercial breakthrough and a nod to their Saharan roots. Exchanging their usual electric guitars for acoustics and hand percussion, the Malian musicians offer reflective ballads fit for a night sipping gunpowder tea around a desert campfire. Yet they also team with guests like Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio, who add melodic urgency to the sidewinder licks of “Tenere Taqqim Tossam” as they pay tribute to Tinariwen’s beloved homeland.
