A compilation album of 13 studio recordings previously released at various times between 1947 and 1956. Eight of the recordings-- two from 1947 (A3 & B4) and six from 1949 (A6-A7, B1-B3 & B5) were released in 1949 as a 10" 33 1/3 rpm album (DL 5020). Of the remaining 5 selections, 2 were recorded in 1950 (A1 & A4), 2 in 1955 (A2 & A5), and 1 in 1956 (B6); they originally were released as A and/or B sides of either 10" (78pm) or 7" (45rpm) singles.
The compilation originally was released in the US in 1958 as a 12" monophonic LP (DL 8781). First pressings had black labels with silver print. The LP was reissued in 1960 with black labels that featured a rainbow color band through the center hole. The stereo enhanced version (DL 78781) was released with the same color bar label sometime between 1960 and 1967.
