About
Signing to legendary label Sub Pop has heightened the attention focused on Doldrums (aka Airick Woodhead). He rises to the occasion by releasing a compelling new second album, The Air Conditioned Nightmare. The album title borrows from great American writer Henry Miller, and it hints at the moods explored within. In a label press release, Woodhead notes that "Conflict is at the heart of this album...anxiety is my default state". His brand of uneasy listening merges electronica with avant-rock (Radiohead has been cited as a reference point), to compelling effect. Doldrums launched the album with a gig at Montreal's Bar le Ritz on April 9 and is about to head off on extensive tours of the U.S. and Europe, followed by Canadian festival dates in July.
